If there were still such a thing as radio, and if people still listened to rock music, then "Kings and Queens of the Underground" would have been Billy Idol's next Rebel Yell For me, stumbling across this album was like finding unexpected treasure.
People more hung up on image than on music often overlook the tremendous song-writing skills that went into crafting Idol's many chart-topping hits. Those people can't be helped.
Catchy, infectious, play-that-again-only-louder-this-time songs have always been Idol's specialty and whether it's an up-tempo rocker or one of those brooding, moodier pieces he does so well, this album is I'm not going to say "classic". That's a b. Listen to this for what it is: new music by an artist who has managed to stay strong and vibrant in a sound so his-own it's practically his own genre.
Hope you enjoy it. Awesome album with an 80's sound. That being said, it's not a cheesy 80's sound but rather good rocking 80's rock. Just to name a few. I got this a few weeks ago and let me say they went all out on the design of this album The album is his first in over 10 years and trust me if you're as big of an idol fan as I am you will enjoy the entire album.
Billy is a true musician who even with age gets better and better his songs cater to any age generation. I've been a fan of Idol's since his early punk rock days with Generation X, and he is like a fine wine that keeps improving with age.
I listen to this CD at least once a week, great stuff. Better than his '80s stuff in my opinion. I wish they were playing it on FM radio. I've been listening to it in my car quite a lot, and love it. Highly recommend - I think if you liked him in the '80s, you'll like this better. One person found this helpful. It is not often that I purchase an album which I can listen to at least once every day. This album is 5 stars all the way. Well done Billy Incredible every song is good!!
Just like the dancing with myself - rebel yell era!! Great job William!!! It kinda sounds like he is saying goodbye in one of his tracks!! Great new songs from billy idol. See all reviews.
